4th Grade Expectations

Page history last edited by Jamie Fisk 8 months, 3 weeks ago

Our Expectations of a Fourth Grade Student:

Student will bring all necessary materials and items with them to school each day (homework, binder, book they are reading, hat, gloves, jacket, signed permission slips, etc.)

Student will be honest at all times.

Students will put forth their best effort in all of their work.

Students will accept help and be open to suggestions or corrections in their school work.

Students will complete assigned work in a timely manner.

Students will treat teachers and peers with respect.  This also includes respect of different academic levels within our classroom.

Homework will be assigned almost daily.  It is stated in the handbook that fourth grade students should have about 15-30 minutes of homework each night.  Students should read 15 minutes a day at home or more, if light homework is assigned.  We understand there are extracurricular activities, however, homework encourages time management skills, discipline, and indicates to parents the skills that are being worked on in class.

School homework policy is for students with 3 late assignments any quarter will meet with Mrs. Schatz.

Our Expectations of the Parents of a Fourth Grade Student:

Provide your child with an environment and routine that encourages good sleep habits (10 hr. recommended).

Provide routine and time for breakfast.

Discuss homework that needs to be done, but allow them to complete on their own unless they request help.

Discuss what they write in their Planner.

Discuss what book they are reading.

Contact us with concerns and questions as soon as possible.  You don’t have to wait for conferences.

      Our email addresses are

We try to check this daily but just can’t promise what time of the day we get to look at it.

Students will have monthly Reading goals.  These goals are set individually with the teacher.  Different incentives may be given to reach these goals.  Please encourage them to READ!

8.  Assignment Books- Students fill in these planners with what was done that day and homework assignments.  They will copy this information off of the board in the classroom.  Please sign them every Friday so we know that you are aware of what is happening at school.  Any instances where a signature is needed before Friday, it will be the student’s responsibility to make sure his/her parents sign it.
